Services We Provide

The EMS Division of South Orange Rescue Squad provides standby EMS coverage at all UNC Chapel hill Football and Men's Basketball games in addition to various special events such as high school football games, 5k's, and community festivals in the Chapel Hill/Carrboro area.

The EMS Division also jointly staffs an ALS ambulance with one Orange County Paramedic and two South Orange EMTs.  This ambulance runs in the regular 9-1-1 system, responding to the citizens of Orange County.

Training Process

Provisional Members (cadets) are required to complete a strict training regimen before they earn regular status. The training includes 48 hours a month actively working on an ambulance, either through the Orange County EMS System or for SORS. Complete training requirements will be provided to provisional members by their team leader, and must be completed to become a regular member. It takes provisional members an average of 6 months to complete all the training requirements. After the cadetship, full division members are then required to work 24 hours per month on either the SORS ambulance or SORS special events.
