Fred Stipe, Board Chair

Fred Stipe is a Chapel Hill native and has been a member of SORS since 1997. He is President and Director of Operations for Show Pros Event Services of Chapel Hill, Inc. He is also a member of the UNC Community Emergency Response Team.


Josh Davis is a public health professional specializing in the application of statistical techniques and data management to address health problems in developing countries. He likes to apply these skills to measuring the impact of SORS on Orange County EMS services. A longtime Carrboro resident, he has served as an EMT with SORS since 2006. He has served on the Board of Directors since December 2014.


Ray DuBose is the retired Director for Energy Services at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He has served on the Board of Directions since December 2013.


Heart Fowler Foxworth is a licensed NC clinical social worker and has been the System of Care Coordinator at Cardinal Innovations in Chapel Hill since January 2013. She has experience addressing community mental health problems and substance abuse. She has served on the Board of Directors since December 2014.


Dan Jones is the retired Chief of the Chapel Hill Fire Department. He entered the fire service in Pinellas Park, Florida in 1974, where he served as a firefighter, paramedic, training officer, EMS Chief, and Deputy Chief over a period of 16 years. He relocated to Chapel Hill in 1990 to serve as Fire Chief. He retired in 2015 and has served on the Board of Directors since May 2015.


Matthew Mauzy, Chief

Matthew Mauzy has served as Chief of South Orange Rescue Squad since 2004. A member of SORS since 1996, he's served in various roles within both the EMS Division and the Technical Rescue Team.  He's a certified swiftwater rescue, rope rescue, and ICS instructor.  He's also been a firefighter, Captain, and Safety Officer for the New Hope Fire Department.

Chief Mauzy served on the Orange County Board of County Commissioners Emergency Services Workgroup and the Radio Tower Site Committee.

Chief Mauzy currently serves as the Lead Rescue Tech for the LUH-72 section of the North Carolina Helicopter Aquatic Rescue Team (NCHART).


Jacques Morin, South Orange Rescue Squad Treasurer

Jacques Morin has worked in education and IT as a project manager for the Faculty of Medicine and the Learning Commons at the University of Calgary, as the Associate Director at Zayed University in the United Arab Emirates, and in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He has served as SORS Treasurer since 2013 and has been a member of SORS since 1995.

Peggy Myers is director of library development at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In addition to serving on the SORS Board of Directors, she also is a Basic Life Support instructor (CPR/AED and First Aid).  She has been a professional fund-raiser for more than 25 years, primarily in higher education.  Her community volunteer experience includes: breakfast team leader at the Community Kitchen serving the homeless in Chapel Hill/Carrboro, Heritage Hills Recreation Corporation Board of Directors, and Membership Chair for the Northwood High School PTSA.


  

 

 

Bill Waddell served as a paramedic with SORS between 1993 and 2013, along with his wife Jane.  Bill also served as SORS Treasurer for multiple years during this period.  He and Jane continue to serve as CPR instructors between play dates with their grandchildren.
